Is it working? (n/m) - Bernie (NoVA) 20:00:10 05/08/11.perhaps if you had made changes to your fuel system - FuerGrissa 18:23:17 05/08/11.You likely have a bad fuel pressure regulator. That and the fuel is not stagnant in the fuel rail as it is in a carborated car. Would prevent fuel vapor from forming from heat. Vapor lock? posted by Ziceman(East TN) on at 05:50 PM This is a cheap/easy remedy that actually works. You cant really vapor lock a fuel injected car. Hold the switch for as long as necessary to prime the fuel rail, purging the air. Install a fuel rail primer switch that sends +12 to your fuel pump relay. ![]() Remedies: Install inline fuel check valve to hold pressure. The problem becomes worse if the fuel pump doesn't deliver a healthy volume. 0:00 / 5:13 8 Cure For Vapor Lock Uncle Tonys Garage 321K subscribers Subscribe 432K views 4 years ago Installing a Vapor Separator Gas Filter is a quick, easy, cheap fix for ninety percent. As a result it's necessary to eliminate the air through the injectors, which takes a while. If the Miata works like my other car, the fuel pump will not run longer than a few seconds without a running engine, so it may not have enough time to purge the air. When you go to start the engine, you must first purge the air in the lines. When the fuel vapors condense, a vacuum is formed, drawing air into the fuel rail through the same leaky injectors. Heat boils the fuel, which dribbles out into the intake manifold through leaky injectors and/or returns to the tank via a leaky FPR and/or fuel pump check valve. I say this from experience (on a non-Miata vehicle), and I think it happens like this: Swede, vapor lock *can* occur in an EFI car, not because of the fuel pump trying to pump air, but because of difficulty in clearing air from the fuel rail. No symptoms while driving though.Īny thoughts of what I might need to replace? I am guessing that the fuel pressure is not being held after shutdown and hence the vapor formation. ![]() And in the past it has only happened at transition periods (like this time), not during the extreme heat of summer. I have experienced mild vapor lock on restart under similar conditions, but never to where the car wouldn't start. After I got home, I went back out a couple of times and the engine restarted with only the slightest bit of stuttering. 5 minutes later it started, and ran like a dream for the trip back home (no traffic jam that time!). After trying multiple times, I opened the hood and put ice packs on top of the fuel rail area. gasket make a product called 'cool cans' which run the fuel through a cannister filled with ice or dry ice to cool the fuel, I'm not sure about the marine environment though for this type of setup. I knew it wasn't flooded, but rather a severe case of restart vapor lock. As far as remedies if indeed it is vapor lock, Moroso, and Mr. Came out about 45 minutes later (sun still up and cooking car), the car absolutely would not start. By the time i got to my daughter's dorm, everything was still running fine, so I went in to help her with something. Especially when you are stuck in a one hour traffic jam. It was about 70 deg but very sunny, which in Denver means that the engine bay gets really hot. ![]()
